Charlie Rose II

http://xpertpen.blogspot.com/2012/10/breast-cancer.html

Charlie you covered cancer a few days ago and I dont think you do the public justice when you are totally dependent on what you are told.  The breast cancer coverage first looked at the xrays, memo-grams,ultrasound and how often they should be checked.  I believe you said every two years.

The problem is that many people dont have money, they dont have insurance, they dont have time.  Into this group fall single mothers.

As we all know cancer is a catastrophic illness,  simply put it is a very expensive to diagnose, and it is even more expensive to treat.  The women have to be hospitalized and most will require care at home.  And the prognosis is not favorable either.

The link above speaks to breast cancer .... their is no mention of high density breast and how they mask the disease, their is no mention of the cost of false positives, and their is no mention of up and coming diagnostics and how they will fare against current practice.

When a women has insurance and shows up for a checkup, the doctor will automatically request the xray, and say he sees a suspicious spot, he will then order the next exam which is the ultrasound, which is five times as expensive as the xray.   He will then proceed to send the patient to the oncologist, The oncologist will look at the picture and say, "the only way to be sure is to do a biopsy".   The patient will always let the doctor  do his magic.  The needle aspiration biopsy is done and sent to the pathologist who will either declare a state of cancer or say the biopsy is negative.

But their is a physicist in Australia who has come up with a technique for detecting cancer, both cervical and breast, do so early, and do it with a skin sample.   The skin sample can be skin cells, or nail cells, or hair samples (hair and nail are appendages of the skin) .   This is a very inexpensive way of monitoring cancer, and better at detection than any test we presently have.

So do your homework.
