Nuclear Holocaust

Welcome China, I have seen your renaissance and am happy to see from this vantage point your xcitement.  Not so with the rest of the world, many of them see you as conqueror.  I see the pictures of your soldiers, your mariners, your pilots, your submariners and Im glad to have you along.

I see the pride on those young sailors faces, out to sea perhaps for the first time in a carrier.  The size of the flotilla scares some people ..... after all why else would you need so many ships.  They have not served on our ships ..... to chicken shit, or they have other priorities, but service to their country is subservient to their own ambitions.

They fear your nuclear arsenal and increasing its size makes them nervous.  They may not know a damn about nuclear energy but have a vision of countries going at each other with nuclear warheads falling everywhere.  They dont know about a nuclear winter and how all of us, the human race, will have to fit in a coffin, in that eventuality.

China with 350 million scientist and engineers, now hitting the surf in outer-space.  With 350 million people who speak English.  China who stands before the world an economic giant.  These are the ideas that swell a peoples chest and gives them invincibility.

My daughter was invited to run on the Great Wall, unfortunately I was not in a position to make that a reality, but you never know.  On the campus of Texas Tech I spoke with one of your countrywomen.  She was working on a PhD in English.  I asked her if she had read The Art of War, and she had not, indeed she was not aware of the book.  I asked her if she had read or seen the Chinese encyclopedia, the first encyclopedia ever written .... again she said no.  Then she said that I was embarrassing her.  Our conversation ended there.  It was an amicable encounter and I hope she remembers me.  It was not my intent to embarrass her, but it was my intent to measure her.

People here worry about your nuclear capabilities because they have no idea of your nuclear responsibilities and the nuclear dangers that you have eluded.  But as in all things, we all loose control at some point.  It wont be long before one of your generals goes crazy and ends up loading your nuclear arsenal on unauthorized planes, flying around your homeland and threatening the very people we are entrusted to protect.  It wont be long before a nuclear reactor has a spill.  Hopefully it will not be a Chernobyl, with millions of acres glowing with radiation, thousands of people in need of bone marrow transplants, and the worse case scenario averted by the heroism of your countrymen forfeiting their lives that others might be saved.  And the day will come when one of those submarines suffers a broken nuclear reactor, and cannot be saved, and again the prayer will be, to sink to the bottom so that the rest of us can live.

Yes, these things will happen, they always do, and maybe one of those nuclear submarines will surface next to a hurricane stricken island, and a power failure can be averted by one of those nuke subs.  This is a much better scenario.

So I do not fear, the Chinese flotilla, the nuclear subs, the stealth bombers ..... I dont fear your economic xpansion.  I do not fear it any more than I fear our economic downfall.

I think that a slow economy is the way to go, this can always be achieved by going back to a gold standard, by putting silver back in the coins and stop the printing of money.

May the force be with you.    and BTW I have a woodasorus in my garden.
