Well you saw what happened a category 1 hurricane came and went and left New Orleans under water. Even after a spending of $14 Billion for bigger levees to keep out the water, new giant pumps to pump out the water, none of that helped.
Then of course you have the idiots .... "no Im not leaving its only a one and I've survived much worse", "no Im not leaving we have got new levees and that should be fine". Well idiots, you can stay if you like but dont bother us for financial help. Hell we are not threw paying for Katrina!
We knew then because our best scientific minds told us what was going to happen.
New Orleans is history, first it was hit by a Hydrogen bomb, and now it wont stay afloat. I know that to the people that live there this is a tragedy and many of us feel this way also. But this city was build below sea level on a hurricane entrance and it will sink every year until it dies. Why wait with apprehension for the inevitable slow death, lets pick up our things and move inland. Dont listen to the whimsical and capricious who want to remain at all cost.
We cant keep interrupting the children's education. Prior to Katrina we went to New Orleans about five times, we have the posters, the pictures, ate the alligators, ate with the gulls, I loved New Orleans. I love the jazz, the cajun, the food, the French, the history ..... but its over. This does not mean we cant move up river and build another city. Hell they named a University after me.
We cannot afford to invest another $15 Billion Dollars to float New Orleans. I want to thank, Angelina, Harry Connick Jr., President Carter, and all those people that did so much to keep their home and our neighbors homes livable.
But we have to make decisions and set priorities .... and rebuilding New Orleans every year is crazy. Now Im all for helping those people move .... but if they dont have the will or the way with all to get out of that rat hole .... I for one will not throw a life preserver at you. I especially will not throw one that is worth $15 billion.
Oh and when you do get it going give me a call .... I'll hang with you.
