Ok you lazy car engineers .... are you aware that most people adjust their rear view mirror without any guidance from the car makers? Why is this? This is a safety issue and endangers lives, so please ..... lets look into this. The rear view mirror on the left should have a radical pattern that shows the left lane and the rear view mirror on the right should show the right lane. Drivers should not be changing the mirrors each time they enter the vehicle, using their own perception.
The TV cameras for the rear are good and protect children behind the vehicle. This is a direct visualization, the side mirrors require the driver to turn his head or focus on the mirror. The outer lanes dont require the driver to monitor the shoulders behind them. The inner lanes require the driver to monitor the lanes on either side where cars can be missed, the blind spots. These spots can be minimized by the simple use of a radical pattern.
The mirror should not be facing up, or down, or showing the rear of ones own car. It should deploy to see the lanes involved.
Drive Safely .... enjoy your vacations. Remember objects in your mirror are uglier than they appear to be.
