The Blind Leading the Blind

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is responsible for issuing drivers licenses n the police enforce the law with traffic citations.  When it is your turn to visit, they call your name, make you stand on the yellow footprints on the floor and you look into the magic machine.  The clerk doesnt know anything about vision, QA, and apparently no one at DPS does, I bet even our 12 year governor Perry doesnt know about QA.  As most of you know he was born in BFE  (Bum ***Egypt).

So the machine was built 20/30 years ago and hasnt been calibrated since.  But I dont want to see people outside the building protesting.  The Police will come and hit you with their clubs, spray your face with  a lacrimous compound, maze.  Or as it is better know, tear gas.   Relax this only happens in New York.

We had to go see the eye doctor for another reason, but we discovered that my wife of 40 years, doesnt need glass to drive.  Yet one of those clerks tested her, one of those clerks that doesnt know anything about the eye or vision...took her license and told her to see a doctor and get glasses.  She did just that, the license was returned to her but it says she must wear glasses.

So if my wife is driving and she makes a wrong turn, she could get two tickets; one for a wrong turn and another for not wearing glasses.  The funny part is it could be any pair of glasses.  How would the cop know that the glasses she is wearing dont belong to someone else?   They could be the 3D glasses they give at the theater and he would be none the wiser.  You cant legislate stupidity.

The geriatric blind demographics are exposed to this bureaucratic blunder at some cost.  Its $30 dollars for the co-pay, $20 dollars for the exam, one gallon of gas at current market price, and 3 hours of waiting in the lobby.  But it wont stop there....you will be given a follow up appointment.  Now hopefully the real eye doctor doesnt find anything wrong or your cost will go up exponentially.  BTW the pair of glasses will run about $300 dollars.  So this medicare person on a fixed income will not eat this month.

Now you know our governor will do nothing about this....he is to busy trying to bury the big N-rock.  And when he finishes he will be out of state hoping to find some voters and some contributors.  Maybe continuing education would not be a bad idea for politicians.  They could learn about QA.  Maybe we could fine the University that failed to prepare the governor....anyone know his Alma Matter?  Or he could be issued a citation for failure to govern.

If only a university offered a degree in Quality Assurance?
