FYI I dont vote for candidates that run unopposed .... they dont need my vote. I dont like Sylvester Reyes and would like to see him very much gone. So I am glad to see that you have taken the bull by the horns and decided to run. I sit on two potential votes, or more ....so pay attention.
You talk a lot about veterans and my question to you is .... why? I mean there is the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard ..... only 1% of people serve. I personally think that you lacked the courage, or were unwilling to pay your patriotic dues. Yes you have served your community .... but we are but a small piece of the American Dream. My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty .... there is a reason why we say the pledge of allegiance every day.
So what are your thoughts on the war in Afganistan, or how will you wage war against terrorists. How will you handle the drug war, the tortilla curtain, illegals. Ft Bliss grass is not a priority .... this is a desert and grass will not grow, we have no water, and it is cheaper to cremate a soldier than to bury him. You dont need to have six soldiers carrying the casket.
Budget, employment
Will you put the federal budget on the net, after all, we are supposed to have open government? Will you support the city budget and the EPISD budget on the net? Do you think the EPISD superintendent should earn more than the president ..... do you support cutting it in half? Will you support malpractice suits without caps at the federal level?
El Paso Electric the only utility that has ever gone broke in the nation, is now charging the community the highest rate in the country. Can you take care of this? Will you stop the taxing of books? It is a freedom of speech issue. Will you combine the parks with the schools, sell the parks not in use? Will you combine the libraries with the school?
Preschool is fine and not a priority .... the research for this is conducted by the Preschool, therefore bias. Hell most of us didnt go to preschool. Most of us did not get bilingual education. Most of us had PE.
Your views on the 2nd amendment, please, and gay marriage.
Well this is getting long so just one more thing .... will you call for a constitutional convention? Will you support 3 years of HS, 2 years of College?
Will you support closing the international bridges at sundown? Amtrack .... sucks .... really bad. Will you support passenger train to Austin? A passenger train to Albuquerque? The city buses at night are empty, they should not be running. Bike lanes are useless ..... riding a bike, is very dangerous. Would you support stiffer laws for drunk drivers and driving while on the cell phone?
We need health care standards, children should be vaccinated and denied public school, without their full compliment of vaccines they are a public danger. Kids need their HPV vaccines. Will you allow teachers without a certification, without educational degrees? Will you support nurse patient ratios in hospitals, 1 nurse to 5 patients.
Mr. O'Rourke, Im glad you have taken on Sylvester Reyes, and feel the job could use new blood. But we the people need a person that gives primacy to our lives, first and foremost. We are all one foot away from unemployment, from foreclosure. But our other representative voted for a 6% increase in property taxes.
