Im cold and Im worried about screwing with the thermostat. We just had it fixed because the fan on the unit broke down and the ambient temperature was 109 degrees. This is in the shade. If you have not lived in this desert habitat just one of these hellish days is enough to sour you for life. You want to be cool but you dont want to go broke paying for the energy. At these extremes people die. You cant drink water fast enough to keep you from falling over.
You dont have to believe me just watch the NBA game, the air conditioner went out during the championship game and La Bron (Crampy) James went to the bench, he had to be carried.
But the thermostat is very complicated, all those numbers and buttons. The numbers and buttons actually allow you to adjust the temperature even though it exceeds the capacity of the machine. Breaking the cooler when the temp is 109 can lead to your death either by heat exposure or at the hands of those with whom you cohabitate. It can be overwhelming and result in suicide.
The thermostat needs only two buttons one for Hot and one for Cold. If the occupants are hot, you press the Hot button and the temperature will go down, if you are cold, you press the cold button and the temperature will go up. All the other information in the digital thermostat is useless to the consumer. He seeks comfort, to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
