Cesar

Well its that time again .... I have to vote for state rep.  I get junk mail from the Cesar Blanco Campaign daily.  When I dont get the mail, I get the campaign people knocking at my door.  Knocking, knocking at my door.

His opponent is Norma and there is no way I will vote for her.

So I have a few questions and maybe I will get an answer.  He has the endorsement of the El Paso Times.  The same endorsement that was Norma's for 15 years.  So here goes;

1.  The recent terrorist attack by the cartel on two giant billboards off the freeway.  Reading, "Plata o Plomo" are enough to scare the crap out of our community.  The hanging of a doll could possibly be Cesar, or Norma, or the new city manager, or the EPPD, or the Sheriff, or even myself.  So what if anything are you prepared to do to restore the peace and tranquility I have grown accustomed to as a citizen of this great country.

I guess we will allow everyone to carry a gun.  This makes sense, how else can a person assume his right of self defense?   How else can a person protect the life and property of his neighbors?

2.  How exactly are you going to improve the educational state of our children?  I see you have the endorsement of all the teachers .... what exactly did you promise?

The city, EPISD, are plague by the lack of students.  The population has shifted and most people are moving to the far east and the far west, and the far north. So some of our old schools need to be shut down because the government is not sending its millions to pay for children that are not there.  Consideration should be given to closing and demolishing some of the old buildings.  Yes I am a silver fox but that old building needs to be demolished and certainly the rumors of a new football stadium should be put to rest.  An expense of this nature would only result in an elderly, retired, and jobless people losing their homes.  Auction the property and get our tax dollars back.  Bowie also should be closed down.

The administrative offices on Boeing should be moved into one of the buildings.  Zavala, that 100 year old school has enough space for the administrative offices,  beyond this it doesnt have students.

We were looking at the annual just a few days ago and I could not help but notice some of the distractions.  The french club, I bet none of those people speak french, I bet none of the students in the German club, speak German.  Hell, I bet the people in the Spanish club, cant read of write Spanish.  The US is behind other countries, some are third world countries, and we are ranked 28th in science and math.  I suppose the teachers have no blame in this.

We continue to give primacy to sports and academics suffer.  I suppose we still have the band favorites, the choir queen, the most beautiful, the all Jeff boy.  Do any of these people bring us fame and fortune.

You are right about one thing, we do need leadership, and you want the helm.
