The News

Well Im sitting here watching the news and the weather forecasters come on and tell the world that a polar vortex is coming  ..... ice, snow and below zero temps are in our future, and it is deadly.   Stay at home they say, stay at home they iterate.

The next day they begin the news with a follow up, the pictures of the highway in Indiana is as foretold and their for all to see are semi trucks, all of them in a mess of twisted iron.  The Fed Ex truck, is a piggy back, these trucks jackknife even in good weather.

The blizzard with strong winds should be pause for high profile vehicles, out here the winds just turn them over.  But there the trucks were, hundreds of them blocking the road and supplying the story for the News people.

I dont want to sound like I dont give a damn .... but the warnings were very loud, very precise, so those truckers must be morons, the police could have stopped them and told them they had to park.  Why?

If they were my trucks they would be in the parking lot and the drivers at home.  I guess they are insured, but wont the insurance go up, or is this an issue.  I know it is human nature to cheat, its in their DNA.  But even the dumbest guy knows not to take on mother nature.  So why are all the trucks out there.

I suppose it has something to do with taxes, thats it.  The trucks are empty, or have just a few items.  But the claims will show that the loads were worth millions.  The insurance companies will pay and the company makes money.  What a scam??  I give them an A for this one, and I give the News a zero.

I have been to Atlanta and like any big city the traffic sucks.  I was there 35 years ago and we could barely walk to the CDC, all that black ice.  This did not prevent us from renting a car and going downtown, but it was cold.  We drove the car to Montgomery and stayed in a house trailer, it was still cold, very cold, those memories are frozen in my mind.

I keep a bag loaded with cold weather gear, parka, gloves, insulated boots, insulated socks, all things needed to make your survival possible, and I live in El Paso Texas ...... so why do these people, wear heals on such a day...... morons.  Now they want federal aid ..... screw them!

The fact is that those tractor trailers would b safer if the breaking process started with the last axle. It would decrease the number of jackknifes.

If u block the roads this is dangerous bcause emergency help is impossible. So a high power winch would do a lot to pull the trucks over humps.

Also trucks should not be allowed to use all the lanes.

those power lines breaking is a given, what I refuse to accept is that they break randomly, when we could easily control where the break will be. Rewiring or restoring power to people would b a lot faster, or we could just keep people in the cold until they freeze.

BTW, Atlanta, it would bhove u to outlaw left turns. This action alone would minimize traffic accident n reduce fuel consumption. Fuel that u could use to keep warm.
