Jesus Roberto Vasquez

JRV class of 65 from Thomas Jefferson HS needs our help.  This guy was in the drill team and the officers club.  He graduated and like many of us found his way to Viet Nam.  I hadnt heard of him since but his story requires our attention and the attention of our leaders.

Its is my understanding of the facts that Robert went above and beyond the call, when a grenade hurled by a Vietcong, threatened his squad.  Robert acted selflessly and neutralized the enemy threat by throwing himself on the grenade and saving those soldiers around him:  He saved those American men and in the process gave his life.

No Purple Heart was awarded, No Congressional Medal of Honor was conferred.  His family feels and with good reason that our Hero has been forgotten.  Say it isnt so!  So this is the start of an investigation and a request to all our veterans, help restore our brother to Hero status.   In no way does a park named after him out in the middle of nowhere worthy of such bravery, such sacrifice.

I knew Roberto personally, he was a nice guy, always smiling.  It will be our goal to establish the facts, the truth, and to honor him as befitting any soldier who dies that we may live.  I am listing our vets and dont feel bad if I leave you out  as there will be roll call in the comment section until Jesus Roberto Vasquez, a son, an El Pasoan, a soldier, a friend, a veteran, a Silver Fox comes before us.  I begin now in the west coast;
