DWI (driving while intoxicated)

I dont know how it works in your communities but here in the good old USA we have a lot of roads through open country, everyone owns a car and trying to get around can sometimes lead to a tragic death.

I dont want to appear as holier than thou, I am not a saint.  When I was a young man I got Shit Faced, thats drunk for you foreigners, got behind the wheel of the car.  Im glad I never hit anyone, or killed anyone.  Had I killed a child or a baby, I would have blown my brains out as a penance.  I dont think I could have lived with the guilt and Im absolutely positive that death would have been better than a life of shame and guilt.

Now I drive around the city and cant help but notice that drivers are wanton.  At the end of the block is one such place.  The drunks lose control, run over the curb, hit the telephone plexus, the wall, die and leave a big mess.  The people fix the wall, the company repair the phone, the city fixes the bus stop and before the paint is dry another idiot comes along and does it again.  

The crowd of family and friends gather at the accident site, burn candles, leave flowers, place one of those stupid religious crosses, and make a night of it.  Crying and whining.  Im sure that they never once think about those people .... whose peace has been wasted, for a spoiled brat, who has no business in a car.  

65% of our accidents involve drunk driving, speeding.  The ones that are not drinking are texting or on the phone.   Oh we have laws against this behavior but enforcement is just not working.

We need tougher laws if we are to change this behavior.   You wouldnt get away with this in Europe.    So this is my proposal.  If you are stopped for DWI, we take your licenses for a year, and we take your car forever.  When you apply for a new license, your probation officer will make sure that your new plates say DWI, this should provide other taxpayers with at lease the chance of staying clear of you ..... we all have a right to self defense.  Your driver license will  say in a very conspicuous way  DWI.  Your vehicle will only be one color, candy apple blood.

Those cameras that take pictures, will also take pictures at random and if you are on the phone ..... we mail you a ticket.  You are placed on probation, your license is stamped DWI, your car will be confiscated, never to be returned, and any future plates will begin with DWI.  Your only color option will be candied blood red.  Your phone will be confiscated, never to be returned.  You will only be allowed to drive cars that are governed at 60mph.  

You will be given a curfew, for five years.  No driving after 8pm.  

Up the street on the way to the local watering hole, the Three Legged Monkey, is another house.  It has barriers paid for by taxpayers to keep the house safe, but almost every other week .... another idiot runs into the house.  The street Montwood, has lights, so they can see, it has reflectors, lots of them, posted speed limits all this paid for by taxpayers.  Hell you wont be able to sell your house .... it is a tragedy in the making and buyers should ask about these things, and sellers should reveal these things.  

As for you dumb mexicans .... stop putting up those stupid religious crosses, they are going to hell ,  they are criminals in evolution and you are aiding and abetting the commission of a crime.   Those crosses are but a false sense of salvation.  I for one have stop the good Samaritan.
