Well another exciting day down at the VA. The pharmacy is always a big stop .... it takes, it took three hours to get my medication. The nurse had called it in and I was suppose to return to the clinic, so I figured well this will go rather quickly. Again, the absences of supervision, the absences of QA is a black eye on our local VA.
Apparently the pharmacy is a source of complaints and unruly, misbehaved, violent old veterans ... who bitch and complain about the long waits and delays ..... hell what do they want for nothing. The pharmacy is full and the crowd waits in the hall, the wheelchairs and hover rounds are obstacles, many of these old, wounded, warriors and their caretakers lose it.
Ah but a security is posted in the pharmacy to enforce calm, to keep the peace ... those pesky veterans can be quite threatening on a Friday afternoon, or any other day of the week.
My personal experience is that I speak to the person behind the desk, she in turn, assures me that my medications will be filled in due course. When the medication are ready the name appears on the TV screen, the pharmacy tech comes out with the meds and whispers. Ok so I exaggerated, they do call out the name, but you have to understand that most veterans lose their hearing....all those bombs, heavy equipment, artillery and small weapons fire take their toll on those little ear bones, they cant hear. How to keep them happy? Well get one of those bikini girls from the ring and give her a big card with the next persons name and have her walk around, that would probably do it. It wouldnt and the reason is, they are bumped.
The veterans that dont work in the VA are bumped by the veterans that do. The pharmacy employees give primacy to the employee friends and I believe its called, Fuck! the ones that dont.
Those employed veterans leave their jobs, duties and go to the pharmacy, while on the payroll, and thats why the veterans have to wait three hours, thats why they get angry and violent. Long live the veterans .... for they are the personification of freedom.
I suppose this is a benefit of the job, dont make an appointment, just see the doctor, dont wait in line just talk to your friend. Maybe we need to rotate the employees to other VA centers. That would keep the friendship or nepotism problem to a minimum. Or maybe we could fire the administrator or the patient advocate. Coming to think of it, I've never see the administrator, or the assistant administrator. These are people that make over $100K, I guess they are very busy. What about the nursing supervisor .... what is she doing. What about security, oh yea, its just like going through the airport. So thats why many of us feel that no one is working there ..... at least no one seems to be in any big hurry to take care of the veterans. Maybe we should outsource.
Well veterans now you know, dont get angry, that is why they check you for weapons on the way in ..... in case you go postal. The truth is you are being bullied ..... three hours for your medications. Where is that VA cabinet person, the generals, the DOD, the press .... maybe we should fire some of them.
I guess Im just upset because, they dilated a veterans eyes in the eye clinic and let him drive home ..... SOB rear-ended me. He couldnt see!
Mr. President, Mr. Congressman, Mr. Senator, Mitt, Newt, Macain, do I hear an Amen!
