Sir it has come to my attention that NASA insulation, aka, Toasty Feet, is an insole that protects ones feet from 72degrees to -106degrees F. The advance aerogel insulation developed by NASA for space suits ... a patented nanoporous material with the highest thermal protection of any solid available, an now on sale $17.95 is xactly the protection I needed in the Bavarian Alps back during the Cold War. My frostbite sequelae is still a problem, my feet still hurt, my skin is peeling off, I endure orthotic deformity to this day, I fall on occassion because my toes dont touch the ground, I spend a lot of money on shoes.
The evidentiary letters I presented to the VA was insufficient proof of my condition and to this day receive no compensation. The VA on my last visit sent me some insoles, but not these, latest advanced insulation discovered by NASA..... As a taxpayer and a Veteran, I would like to see these insoles made available to my comrades in arms, and especially to those serving in subfreezing areas, where they can potentially suffer frostbite and its sequelae. This could save fingers, toes, feet, amputations to potentially thousands of soldiers if it was integrated into the boots, or provided as an insole.
This would be a big Christmas present that the Congress of the United States can give to our soldiers. I know you want them in DC during the holiday to attend to budget concerns and taxes. If it would not be an inconvenience please put this item on their plate, and tell them not to leave DC without seeing to the health of veterans. These insoles can prevent the problem, save the taxpayers money, improves the readyness of our forces everywhere, those in the deserts of the middle east, where temps hit 117 degrees, and those in cold weather areas around the world.
The insulation flattens to protect soldiers and could be incorporated into sleeping bags.
My own dilemma is one of insubstantial proof, the fact that I served in Germany as a 13F, Forward Observer, assigned to the 2/33 FA, 1st Infantry Div, and the fact that I spent 7 months of the year in the Bavarian Alps, and the fact that the frost bite incident is documented in my personal letters sent to my wife has failed to convinced the VA that my health problems are directly related to my duty. Meteorological data of that time period will show that it was as cold there, as it was during the Battle of the Bulge.
Also sir, know that I requested a handicapped placard for my car, and I was informed that it would take 20 days, for the doctor to sign the form. If you could find time during your busy day to call the VA in El Paso and tell them to get up off their ass, I will be beholden to you.
I also want to thank you for a job well done, you have chased the enemy and had him destroyed. A super feat on your part.
Oh and Sir by Executive order you can give a metal to all the soldiers that served during the cold war, A big white one would do. I'm tired of my son telling me that he has more metals than I.
Merry Christmas to you and Yours, and my the force be with you.
Javier
