Sidewalk Chalk

Some time ago I went to Columbus Ohio.  The hotel where I stayed, like all hotels, had a book that shows you the city.  Among the places to go was the sidewalk chalk drawing contest.  So I grabbed the book and put it in my suitcase for the trip home.  I figured that two of those things could be part of El Paso, the other being the topiary.  When I got home I emailed by friend Susie Bird and she went to work.  The sidewalk chalk has come and gone several times including yesterday and I have yet to go.  I wanted to go but my better half had other plans.

I like art ... I cant draw worth a damn .... but my mouth waters at the thought of getting one of those paintings.  But being the low-life that I am .... Ive never had the big bucks.  Not that I would by Van Gough, or Impressionist, I wouldnt buy Picaso, I would not buy anything that I think I could draw.

We went to the Louve and yes I think about sneaking in and taking something, especially the sculptures.  Its not for the money .... just to have it for myself to admire .... to call my friends and have them come over and say ...look what I found!

I bought a sculpture in Gallup New Mexico, an American Indian piece .... I remember wrapping it up in bubble wrap, every time I hit a bump, I just said to myself, please dont break.  We finally got it home and went to buy a stand for it.  It was carved by K94 .... It is a rock I dont deserve, but one that makes me catch my breath every time I see it.

I have seen the work of Michael Angelo, Rafael .... and I have nothing that come close to them.  I met a beautiful Russian in Austin.  I asked her about the Hermitage, she said I could stay at her mothers.  Now I wont make the flight .... Now I cant go ....  just as well, I would probably steal something.

But back to the SideWalk Art show .... I want to xpand on the concept.  I want the artist to use florescent paint, and the city to provide UV lamps, so they will glow in the dark.  This would be good for Halloweenie.
I also think we can make some chalk that will be activated by lasers.  I have plenty of rocks that react to lasers and they glow like another sun ... much prettier.  I only have a red laser but intent to get a hold of a blue one or a green one .  You know if you shoot the laser thru a magnifying glass you can widen the beam.  Interestingly enough the light is contained, it is not reflected.

As for the topiary .... this would look good in one of our parks ..... get a few graves, and gravestones, a full moon, some laser lights, and bingo, we have an attraction.  Its not like we dont have the space.  Oh if we need money .... sell some of those parks .... nobody visits.  It could be dont next to the church .... where day of the dead is a long tradition .... Chow .... carra mia!
