The Veterans Administration

It has become clear to me that tbe VA is dysfunctional, I have not see a doctor in months and there is no indication that it will be anytime soon. Friday I went to see if my request for GWS gulf war syndrome had been received, they said no. I told them I had gotten the information from the news letter and the GWS was now presumptive. They said I have to present new evidence.

I asked when we would get a doctor and they said they have no idea. I went upstairs in the executive suite and it was so quite, the offices were empty. I did speak with a nurse practitioner who refered me to the patient advocate, when it was time to leave I put out my hand to shake her hand, and she would not....I said I dont blame you, you dont want to get any disease I may have picked up, two other evesdroppers laughed behind a screen.

I mean this is a government department that puts soldiers into units, the Big Red One, the 101 Screaming Eagles,the 3rd Armoured Cav, but when they send you home nobody can find your records. They know nothing about the other soldiers that served with you. So there is no one to collaborate your frost bite, no one that can say oh yes, I remember the 400 pound door fell and dented his face, he was evacuated. Oh yeah, I remember that the bunker was struck by lighting, and 12 claymore mines went off along with 2 55 gallon drums of foo gas, there was a hell of a fire, I couldnt believe they walked out of that.

I have seen people who jumped out of planes and survive, no they dont get up with out a scratch. I have also seen them fall to their death. I have seen soldiers drive their tanks off a cliff, 65 tons of steel, something has got to give.

Then you walk into the psychiatrist office and they ask you if you have ever been shot at, ¨Oh hell yes¨, ¨how many times?¨ , Oh 3,4,5 times a week. ¨Why would they should at you?, you are only a clerk!¨, ¨I guess they didnt get the memo¨. Mind you this mindless attempt at determining my PTSD status is done under the constant interruptions of booty calls.The woman is in such a hurry to get laid that she filled the form ahead of time and I was just an obstacle between her and a hard on.

No the VA needs to get shut down and the soldiers spared, veterans spared this kind of indignity and disrespect. Just give them a card and send them to doctors in the community. Otherwise the VA is a waste of our tax dollars.
