In 2006 I was in Switzerland and spoke to a lady on the bus who said that they could not buy a home. She was saying for them was an illusion. Today the city voted to increase our taxes by 20% and to add a $5 fee. This means that the city wants to throw all of us into the streets. We should go stone them.
Obama was on the mic last week and he wants to do something about people losing their homes. I gotta say if you want to improve the housing problem .... get rid of the 30 year mortgage ...... we cannot predict the future and the only thing that we can be sure of is that the banks will try and take your home, your land. And the cities will help them by increasing taxes on homes and giving tax abatement's to businesses.
The other simple thing are modular homes .... my first home was a fixer-upper. And we knew that people on assistance lived in better housing. Young people dont need homes with a 3 car garage, 4 bedrooms, etc. So a modular home would allow the purchase of the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom, etc, and the rest of the rooms could be added later.
Me and the wife now own a huge home and if it was a modular home ... i could sell it off in pieces. I could then add a rental unit. Or I could reduce the square feet and reduce the amount of city taxes. Hell I could sell the unit to the school, they always seem to have them anyway.
Imagine, you become disable and require a modified house, if it was a modular unit, it would be easy to change one unit for one with wide halls for the chair, disable shower. Or you become super able and you could stack up the units.
But it is a mistake to sell more realestate to those that cant afford it.
