Here's Looking at You,Really

The solution to many of these problems are GPS and live video.  The fact is that when the insurance company calls the ICN to inquire about baby Lopez, they dont have to take Mr. Liar's word for it.  They can insist that he provide video access, the insurance company can see for themselves and adjust the bill accordingly.  So the hospital isnt In the Loop so to speak.  The fact is people lie and have no idea how this distortion of the facts will affect them in the long run.  If the social worker is incapable of giving an accurate account of the neonate .... and he isnt, then a video cam will do better.  Otherwise he is aiding and abetting the commission of a crime which is stealing, he is participating in a conspiracy to steal.  And the rest of us will pay for this.

The average CEO makes $13 million dollars, this money will buy a lot of nursing care.  The obvious thing here is that the opposite of socialism is stealing.

Workers  Compensation is also an area of healthcare that needs a second look.

I had one employee who was late 45 times in one month, the month of February.  I call the employee in and counseled her.  My math said that she was costing the state her employer, lots of money.  I convert everything to dollars and cents because this is a language that everybody is acutely interested in.

I made the employee sign a counseling statement telling her to take care of it or face termination.  She tried to xplain the problem, so much traffic in the morning, then why she was always late returning from lunch.  She was told she could not make up the time that the clinic closes at 4pm and that there was absolutely no reason why she had to stay when there were no patients.  Before I took over these nurses were taking turns leaving one day, Wednesdays.  All of the employees were late constantly, they would punch their cards multiple times and claim the timer didnt work, they would punch each others time cards to cover for each other.

The nurses would stay overtime because they could not infuse the IVs fast enough to get the patient out at 4p.  So they made overtime, lots of overtime.  And who was supervising..... no one!  Texas Tech school of medicine did not want a pesky nurse telling them what to do.  So what if the department ran in the red every year, $millions of dollars, not their money.

To correct the problem I bought rebuild infusion pumps, for a small sum of $500 I got the nurses to infuse the IVs at the ordered rates of 300cc/hr.  This as you can see has universal application as the IV runs at 100cc/hr, it takes 10 hours to infuse, 125cc/hr, 8 hours to infuse.  So during a visit to a hospital, the patient can get only 3 IVs, and cant charge for four or five.  The IV rate is interrupted for medication infusions like antibiotics, So the IV rate is the sum of the rates.  Imagine if the IV pump had a phone and would call the insurance company to tell them they were no longer in use.  They could no longer charge for the equipment.  Imagine if the incubator had a phone.  Big Brother .... might not be so bad.

Getting back to Vickie the late nurse, she decides to show me her dark side.  She calls in and says she is a workmen's comp employee, that she hurt her back, that it is giving her problems.  It was like the heavens opened up and god came to help me with the employee from hell.  I told her to go home and not return until she was released by her doctor.

This is what she had to do, she had to go see a doctor, so she picked an orthopedic surgeon.  Now the doctor does his workup and says, hey Vickie you need back surgery, you have a bulging disk that is pinching your nerve.  I dont know what Vickie xpected but it wasnt that, she refused the surgery and opted for steroid shots to the spine.  OMG!  Now she has to do something or commit fraud, she has to get released or not come back to work ..... Thank you god.

She did call and wanted to know if she was going to get her job back?  Absolutely Vickie, we are all worried about you....but it wont be in the clinic, the state is obligated to give you a job, where it has a position.

Now I know that Vic is running around the countryside having fun, that their was nothing wrong with her back, that the doctor was going to try to do surgery and that somebody at workers compensation was keeping up with her case ( a hope and a prayer).  The solution to this is GPS, video cam.  She was probably out dancing.

All of this can be solved with Obama Care.
