Language is a byproduct of our surroundings ... we are linked to both. It changes accordingly and reflects changes in our surroundings and changes within. The further we get from the point of origin, the more corrupt the language .... the less efficient (more words, more sounds, more letters, longer message, longer transmission time, more static.
English is the glue that holds our nation together. When people dont know the language they are unable to participate in its achievements and are likely to be disruptive, destructive and wasteful. They will require translators, more hours of education, unemployment benefits, health benefits. They will gravitate to the place where they are familiar with the language.
If students drop out of school and they are not citizens, we should deport them. Standards that require certain fluency should be written and failure to meet the standards should be enough reason to deny citizenship, or require deportation.
Pre-kinder and kinder students that dont speak English should give us pause, parents should be classified as unfit, negligent, and child abuse. Xtra classroom time should be allocated in the summer for the child and the parent.
Educators need to research ways to facilitate the language, its spelling, its presentation. The students should be monitored, tested to determine the results and failure should be punished by more classroom time and no salary increases. Rewards should be used to motivate teachers to adhere to the programs.
