El Paso City Fathers

Well Beto O'Roak, Veronica Escobar, Emma Acosta, Mayor Cook, Chief of Police, the rest of you politicians, and my brothers in taxation.  I know the city and county have a red budget and know that new sources of  revenue are first on the list.  Therefore I will make a recommendation that I know many of you will appreciate.

I want the city to start issuing tickets to cars parked illegally, rather than having them towed.  Towing a vehicle damages the vehicle and is unnecessary.  Ticketing the vehicle would give the city funds that are badly needed, provide some relief to El Pasoans.  The amount of money they have to pay to the wrecker is $185 dollars, to recover the car, the price goes up everyday because they will end up charging a storage fee.  Of course they look to up the bill by claiming that they have to use Special Equipment.  I guess they want to use a nylon cord?

The receipts do not have the drivers signature, so I dont even know if he has the appropriate drivers license for driving that giant piece of equipment, how he qualified for the job, if he has multiple DWI, if he is a legal citizen.

I do know that the drivers are on 20% commission, which means they are going to be speeding down our roads and potentially contribute to our long list of HIT and RUNs .   To make matters worse this is illegal, these drivers are suppose to be on an hourly wage.  So the TDRL Tow License No. 0005020618C and TDRLVSF License No. 0583542VSF is operating outside the law.  Maybe the Department of Labor could look into this, since the Tow people refuse to pay minimum wage.  Maybe the city or our church leaders could help these people get their daily bread.

Tow trucks can still work at accident sites, and recover broken down vehicles, especially when they endager the public.

Business Owners who have parking and dont want people parking there, should put up a chain.  Otherwise the property owners are in cahoots with the towing people and getting kick backs off the books.  They could also rent barriers, but to leave it open amounts to entrapment.  Certainly the money is being laundered perhaps going to some of those corrupt politicians.

Until such time I suggest that veterans call their representatives. How ironic that you show up for a free meal at Golden Corral on Veterans day  ..... only to have your car towed by some greedy bastard.
